Sudan Advocacy Action Forum is a group of volunteers who work together to achieve a just and lasting peace in Sudan.
While we get administrative support from the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Reformed Church in America, we are an ecumenical group primarily of Christians united in the same goal. A modest number of our group is of the Jewish or Islamic faith.
Our Biblical basis is Matthew 25: 40 (NRSV): "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these, who are members of my family, you did it to me."
Our strategy, as with our goal, is simple. We seek a just and lasting peace in Sudan through three methods in the priority listed:

PRAY
|

We know that God can allow us to achieve our goal, and we seek His assistance. A prayer list is provided. We encourage both individual and group prayer. .

ACT
|

We lobbied Congress and the President for passage of the Sudan Peace Act and public recognition of the plight of the Southern Sudanese. By letters, e-mails, phone calls and meetings, we address issues such as the need for our government to monitor the situation in Sudan related to human rights abuses, adherence to the tenets of the Darfur Peace Agreement signed in May 2004 and to implement the 2004 Comprehensive Peace in Sudan Act provisions.
We joined in a campaign to get a Resolution through Congress to urge the UN Security Council to take stronger actions in demanding the government of Sudan end the genocide in the Darfur region. We endeavor to inform the general public through advocacy events, speaking engagements, and involvement of the media. We post periodic updates and requests for action to this web site and provide E-mail "Situation Updates" and "Action Requests."
We seek to avoid a South-South civil war by encouraging Sudanese factions to resolve their differences through trauma healing and reconciliation using methods proven by the Sudanese organization RECONCILE.

GIVE

If you chose to give, giving is not to this organization but to one of your choice which provides relief for the suffering in Sudan.

Most of our advocates are located in the United States. We also have supporters in South Africa, Sudan, Kenya, Canada, Uganda and various nations in Europe.
While we cooperate with many groups, we choose not to formally identify with other organizations because they may have additional goals that we may not support. Thus we remain focused on our goal of a Just and Lasting Peace in Sudan and avoid conflicts with other goals which might be divisive for our members.
There is no cost for anyone to participate.
When we send information to multiple addresses, normally we will send it to you as a "blind copy". There are two reasons for this.
1. Others do not see your address; thus, it protects your privacy.
2. You can print the e-mail while avoiding printing a large list of addressee.
We are glad you have read this far and hope you will join us. To do so, see the Contact Us page.
